It seems like the Giants have two options with their fourth overall pick Thursday during the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
They can either stay put and will probably end up with the draft's top tackle, whoever they deem that to be (unless a team like Miami trades up to No. 3). Perhaps they could even throw a bit of curveball and take Clemson do-it-all defender Isaiah Simmons in that spot.
Option two, and what's looking more and more like what the Giants may do, is trade down to add assets, and then still take one of the top tackles (or even Simmons), depending on how far they drop.
And it now sounds like we may know their trade-back asking price.
According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, the Giants aren't looking to trade back very far, but their asking price to move back a few spots would be a second-round pick.
SNY NFL Insider Ralph Vacchiano reported earlier this week that the Giants' preference is in fact to trade down, with the team "setting their sights" on grabbing an offensive tackle.
One source told Vacchiano that GM Dave Gettleman and the Giants are "extremely motivated to move" back from the fourth pick.
This year's draft features a "Big Four" of offensive tackles, consisting of Alabama's Jedrick Wills, Iowa's Tristan Wirfs, Georgia's Andrew Thomas, and Louisville's Mekhi Becton. If the Giants have even similar grades for all of those players, then it's likely they could feel comfortable moving back a few spots, picking up an extra second-round pick, and still getting one of the draft's premier O-line talents.
It sounds as if Gettleman's decision on whether or not to trade back simply comes down to how they have each of these tackles graded.
