Free agent WR Robby Anderson, who is hitting the open market and keeping his options open, said Wednesday that the Jets want him back.

"I know they've communicated that they do want me back," Anderson told Newsday's Bob Glauber. "So, we've just got to see how it plays out."

With Anderson a free agent and Quincy Enunwa's future unknown due to his latest neck injury, the Jets' situation at wide receiver is in flux. They could turn to a receiver in the draft when they pick 11th (Jerry Jeudy, maybe?) but retaining Anderson would be smart no matter what they do in the draft and how things go with Enunwa.

"I don't think they've gotten to numbers, but I know obviously they want to be at the table, and I think they're planning to be at the table to keep me in-house," Anderson said.

Jets GM Joe Douglas spoke highly of Anderson on Jan. 1 and said that he knew he was "valued."

"I can't say enough good things about Robby," Douglas said. "Obviously, so much frustration at the beginning of the year. And I'm sure Robby was as frustrated as any player, being a contract year for him. But the person, the teammate he was -- he persevered. ... I had a great conversation with Robby. Won't get into the specifics of it. But he knows -- he knows how valued he is here and we'll discuss him later as well."

Meanwhile, Anderson said on Dec. 31 that it was no longer "logical" for him to sign an extension before hitting free agency.

"I don't really think that it's logical to sign at this point you know," Anderson said. "From a business perspective it's like, why wouldn't I go out there and see what my value truly could be and do things in the correct business matter. ... I mean, I think the goal in a business perspective is to get the most money in the best situation. ...It's very exciting. Coming in undrafted, the tables turn and I kind of feel like the world is in my hands in a sense, so I'm excited."
