According to Mets manager Buck Showalter, Francisco Lindor is 'improving,' though X-rays did show that the shortstop suffered 'a form of' a fracture in his right middle finger after he shut a hotel door on it on Wednesday night.
Lindor ran through fielding drills on Friday in Los Angeles, and apparently he is healthy enough to play, as he is officially in the lineup on Friday night, hitting third and playing shortstop.
"It went well. I can throw the ball, so it’s a good sign," Lindor said. "That was the one thing I was a little more concerned (about), but I can throw the ball.
"I told them if they need me, I can be in there."
Lindor spoke with reporters on Thursday afternoon, explaining how the incident occurred.
"After I finished my massage, I went to my room and I have double doors and I went to close one and I didn’t think the other one was going to close and they closed at the same time, and next thing you know I’ve got a swollen finger," he said.
"I ran around the room for like three minutes. I didn’t want to look at it, and when I finally looked at it I was like ‘Okay.’ I felt like I had my heart in that one finger."
Luis Guillorme started at shortstop and hit third in the Mets' order on Thursday night, recording one of the teams' three hits in the 2-0 loss.
