Former Rangers left winger Rick Nash is calling it a career.

The 34-year-old announced his retirement on Friday through his agent due to concussion-related symptoms.

"Due to unresolved issues/symptoms from the concussion sustained last March, Rick Nash will be forced to retire from the game of hockey. Under the advice of his medical team, the risk of further brain injury is far too great if Rick returns to play," his agent Joe Resnick said in a statement. "Rick would like to thank everyone who has supported him during this difficult time period."

Nash sustained several concussions over the course of his career and most recently sustained one in March with the Bruins and had not been able to return to the ice.

The 16-year veteran played six seasons with the Rangers from 2012-2018 before being traded to the Boston Bruins. He spent the first nine years of his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who selected him with the first overall pick in the 2002 NHL draft.

Nash finishes his career as a six-time All-Star with 1,060 career games played, 437 goals and 368 assists.
