Former Met, Yankee Neil Walker retires after 12 years

Walker spent two years with Mets, one with Yankees

Former Met and Yankee Neil Walker announced his retirement on Twitter after 12 seasons.

"Officially retired, thank you to everyone that helped me in my journey to live out my childhood dream of being a Major Leaguer, I loved & cherished every day. From Pittsburgh, NY Mets & Yankees, Milwaukee, Miami, and Philly, nothing but love to those Organizations, Cities & Fans!" Walker said.

In his two years in Queens, Walker hit .275 with an .806 OPS. Walker came to the Mets after spending his previous seven seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

As a Yankee, Walker played in 113 games, hitting .219.

Walker retires a career .267 hitter with 149 homers and 609 RBI, winning a Silver Slugger Award in 2014.
