Former Met Rajai Davis announced on Thursday night that he will be playing pro ball in Mexico in 2020.

Davis, 39, tweeted out that he is joining Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League, saying "Going South of the border to play this game I love so much. Thanks to @AcererosOficial and @JoseMelendez123 for this opportunity to continue to play ball."

The veteran outfielder signed with the Mets in December 2018, and then spent the beginning portion of the season with the Triple-A Syracuse Mets.

On May 22, Davis made his memorable debut with the Mets, as he paid more than $230 dollars to take an Uber from Pennsylvania to Citi Field. He arrived during the middle of the game, and when called on as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning, Davis slammed a three-run home run off of Nationals reliever Sean Doolittle to help give the Mets the win over their division rivals.

In all, Davis played in 29 games with the Mets last season, slashing .200/.231/.400.

At the end of the season, Davis said that he hoped he'd get another chance to keep playing in 2020.

I'm just going to wait it out and train like I'm going to get another job next year," Davis told Newsday. "I guess we'll see what happens."
