As the legal situation for cornerback DeAndre Baker continues to unfold, a former Giant has now also had a run-in with the law.
Per the Douglas County Sheriff's Department in Colorado, former Giants receiver Cody Latimer was arrested and charged with assault in the second degree, menacing and illegal discharge of a firearm.
Police say deputies responded to a call of shots being fired at an apartment complex after an argument had been heard taking place very early on Saturday morning.
One person was injured, per the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, but the injuries were not related to the gun shot. The 27-year-old former Giant was taken into custody, but was released on $25,000 bail.
Latimer's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, released a statement on Saturday, saying: "There's an entire back story to this situation that constitutes one of the most highly provocative situations you can imagine. Please withhold judgment until all the facts of what took place that night are known."
A second-round pick by the Broncos out of Indiana in 2014, Latimer played four seasons in Denver before joining the Giants prior to the 2018 season. The 6-foot-2 receiver played 21 games for the Giants over two seasons, including 12 starts. He was never a huge part of the offense, though, as he caught just 35 passes for 490 yards during that span.
Latimer signed a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins earlier this offseason.
