After his rookie season, the Giants believe that Daniel Jones is their quarterback of the future. Despite having an up-and-down season, one could say some flashes of greatness were seen from the Duke product.

But there was one moment off the field last season that told former Giants WR Bennie Fowler that Jones truly wanted to be great.

Fowler recounted that moment during his The Quiet Time Podcast where Jones was the latest special guest. It was Week 5 against the Vikings and Jones suffered his first loss as a starter for Big Blue. He threw for only 185 yards with one touchdown and one interception, as one of the best defenses in the league shut him down.

After the game, Jones' performance just didn't sit well with him. So he called the recently-cut Fowler to get some late-night work in.

"You hit me up, you came and picked me up and you wanted to go through those plays that you had messed up," Fowler said to Jones.

So Fowler was curious when he asked, "Where did that come from?"

"I wanted to feel like I had made progress toward the things I had messed up on," Jones answered. "I didn't do well and I had an opportunity to correct them before I went to sleep that day so that was kinda the mindset."

Jones had collected two straight wins against the Bucs in a dramatic Week 3 that saw the rookie burst onto the NFL scene, and a division victory over the Redskins at MetLife Stadium for his first home win in the next week. But great quarterbacks learn the most from their losses, and Jones took action right away, which impressed Fowler tremendously.

Jones still has more work to do to be great, but his mindset is already in the right place. And his teammates, like Fowler, have seen it first-hand.
