David Cone, currently a Yankees analyst with the YES Network, could potentially be in the mix for a spot on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball broadcast team.

According to a report from Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, ESPN and Cone have been in talks about a role at ESPN, which could include Sunday Night Baseball.

Marchand reports that Alex Rodriguez will remain a key part of the broadcast, and that ESPN executives liked the way Rodriguez fit in with Cone and Michael Kay during a YES broadcast this past season.

Joining Rodriguez in the ESPN booth the past few seasons has been Jessica Mendoza, and while the Post reports it's still possible the current booth makeup stays the way it's been, Mendoza could be replaced. ESPN maintains that would have nothing to do with Mendoza's recent comments about the Astros' sign-stealing scandal and how it was brought to light by Mike Fiers, per the Post. She later tweeted out a clarification of her comments.

Mendoza also serves as a special adviser to Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen, and Marchand has also reported that Mendoza would still have a prominent role in ESPN's baseball coverage, even if she does leave the booth on Sundays.

Cone, the former Cy Young winner who finished his career with 194 victories, would still likely maintain his role on YES even if he lands a deal to join ESPN, per the Post's report.
