The Eagles needed a wide receiver, and struck a deal with the Lions for Golden Tate last Tuesday. But before that trade was made, they inquired with the Jets about Robby Anderson, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

It is unknown what the Eagles would have offered for the 25-year-old, but they dealt away a third-round pick for Tate. Anderson is also a restricted free agent at the end of the season, while Tate will be an unrestricted free agent at the age of 31.

Anderson, who will be active on Sunday after missing last week's game with an ankle injury, has hauled in 17 receptions on 36 targets for 314 yards and three touchdowns so far this season.
