While the Giants are 4-11 overall and lost nine straight games at one point, the Eagles are throwing records out the window in Week 17.

Up to 8-7 with a one-game lead ahead of Dallas after Sunday's 17-9 win over the Cowboys (7-8), Philadelphia (8-7) clinches the NFC East's playoff berth with a victory against New York.

But as the 4:25 p.m. kickoff looms for Sunday at MetLife Stadium, quarterback Carson Wentz and the Eagles are by no means chalking up the Giants as an automatic "W."

"It's a good defense, really good front -- they mix it up really well," Wentz said Thursday. "Obviously, on the back end, they have a lot of young guys. But they want to mix up coverages, mix up blitzes, try and confuse you. It's a good defense. I wouldn't look at their record at all. I look at the film and say, 'Hey, that's a good defense and we've got our work cut out for us.'"

The Giants' defense ranks bottom 10 in the NFL when it comes to points (27.8), total yards (375.8) and passing yards (263.1) allowed per game.

On the other side of the ball, though, the Giants have turned things around as rookie quarterback Daniel Jones has developed.

Unlike the last time the two teams faced off for Dec. 9's 23-17 overtime battle, when the Eagles edged the Eli Manning-led Giants, Jones leads the offense after throwing a career-high five touchdowns in Sunday's 41-35 overtime win over the Washington Redskins.

"Offensively, they're efficient," said head coach Doug Pederson. "They did the 36 with Eli (in Dec. 15's 36-20 win over the Miami Dolphins) and then Daniel last week. (Running back) Saquon (Barkley) looks to be healthy and playing good. So they're clicking. They've got some weapons on offense and they're clicking there.

"Defensively, it's the same group of guys we faced weeks ago, minus (since-released cornerback) Janoris (Jenkins). But it's a good, young secondary. It's a big, physical defensive front, good against the run and it's a good test for us.

"They challenge both sides of the ball and special teams. And I would say, right now, the way they're playing is not an indication of their record. They're playing a lot better than that and it's a good test for us going into Week 17."

The Eagles are victors of three straight games, starting with the 14-point comeback against the Giants in Week 14, but the mindset stays the same into the win-and-in reward that awaits -- if New York does not successfully play spoiler.

"My message does not change," Pederson said. "It's, 'Go about our business the way we've been going about our business,' and it's a 1-0 mentality each week. It's how we prepare during the week and, really, staying humble through the whole thing and understanding what got us here, how we got here and what has transpired in the last couple of weeks and we've just got to continue to get better and hang tough, battle and find ways to win."
