Daniel Jones was seen at Giants practice on Friday without a boot on his foot, showing progress regarding his sprained ankle, but the rookie quarterback did not practice and is unlikely to play against the Eagles on Monday night.

Veteran QB Eli Manning is expected get the start against Philadelphia in his place, as the Giants look to halt an eight-game skid.

With Jones' ankle already improving and him no longer in need of a protective boot, the idea of Jones returning to the field again this season is certainly trending upward.

Pat Shurmur said earlier in the week that he was "optimistic" Jones would return this season.

Manning will likely have Nate Solder (ankle) and Golden Tate (concussion) on offense with him against the Eagles, as both were full participants in Friday's practice.

Tight end Evan Engram was limited at practice and is still questionable to suit up for Monday's game.

Meanwhile, Jabrill Peppers (back), Corey Ballentine (concussion), Rhett Ellison (concussion) and Chris Peace (knee) did not practice.
