C.J. Mosley doesn't want to hear anything about Jamal Adams being on the trade block.

The Pro Bowl linebacker spoke to ESPN about the current speculation surrounding Adams, the trade rumors that have come up recently and his contract situation. If Adams were to leave the Jets, Mosley would think it preposterous.

"To me, I wasn't too worried about that," he told ESPN. "That would be a crazy move."

Mosley only got to play in one and a half games with Adams last season, as a nagging groin injury kept him sidelined. But he got to see the impact that Adams made as a leader on and off the field. No one can replace that.

"First of all, he's one of the leaders on the team," Mosley said. "That's first and foremost. He brings that extra energy whether guys want it or not. Sometimes you might be tired or not feeling good, but as soon as he steps on the field, you're going to hear that voice and he'll be flying around. To have that presence in the secondary, a guy that can make plays in the passing game and also plays in the backfield -- in the box -- that's always exciting."

That type of performance every game is why Adams wants to be the highest-paid safety in the league. However, there have been no contract extension talks yet, with the Jets holding all the control. Adams still has his fifth-year option that the team just picked up, and he can be franchise tagged twice before seeking a new team in free agency.

But those are the technicals, and won't lead to a happy defensive captain. Reality is that Adams does loads for the Jets' defense, and Mosley can't wait to continue to work beside him hopefully for years to come. While it was a rough start to his Jets career in 2019, Mosley is confident that once everyone -- not just him -- is back healthy, this defense under Gregg Williams is really going to take off.

"Once we get everybody back, and everybody already has a year under their belts as a defense, we can take this to another level," Mosley said.
