As things shake out at the moment, the Giants own the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. That's prime real estate to land one of the top prospects coming out of college football this year -- if, of course, the Giants stay in that slot.

If that is the case, GM Dave Gettleman will be in a great position to nab arguably the best player in this year's draft class in Ohio State DE Chase Young.

After watching his most recent performance against Penn State, where he collected three sacks, Young once again solidified his spot as the best pass rusher in the NCAA. He now has seven sacks in his last two games, bringing his total to 16.5 on the season with 19.5 tackles for loss.

Experts and fans alike are salivating over having a player like Young on their defensive line, and the Giants should be right up there. Their pass rush needs obvious help, and with their current draft pick, Young could be on the board after the Bengals.

But is that the only option the Giants should consider? It's hard to counter that thinking, but you can when you think about the Giants franchise as a whole right now.

This is a rebuilding team, and though there are solid, young playmakers on the roster, getting more building blocks through the Draft could be Gettleman's priority. And right now, the Giants only have seven draft picks in their holster come April.

The Giants only have multiple picks in the seventh round, with two thanks to the Eli Apple trade with the Saints last season. And they gave away their third-rounder for this year in the Leonard Williams deal with the Jets before the NFL trade deadline this year.

A Top 5 pick is where the Giants are trending based on the way this season is going. For certain teams that would want to trade up to, say, get the quarterback of their choice, the Giants could easily add more draft capital while grabbing a very valuable asset lower in the first round. Offensive line is another area that needs improvement, and there are a few top-rated tackles heading to the NFL next season.

The Giants are in a good position for the Draft as of now, but Gettleman and his team will have a tough decision to make. Do they go for the sure-fire first-rounder that has NFL projections all over him (a la Saquon Barkley at No. 2 overall back in 2018)? Or do they trade back to acquire more picks for their rebuild?

It's never too early to start thinking about these situations, and the Giants certainly should be as the regular season dwindles down by the week.
