After Brookyln's first double overtime victory in over two years, the Nets close 2018 winning nine of their last 10 games -- defining a new standard as the hottest team in the league.

Joe Harris poured 27 points, making 11 of 14 field goal attempts, including the game-winner as the Nets showed no mercy in a wild and wacky 134-132 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday at Barclays Center.

Harris went 5-for-8 from 3-point range with six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Spencer Dinwiddie scored 37 points, just two points away from matching his career-high. The guard went 7-for-16 from beyond the arc, adding 11 assists and making 12-of-29 field goal attempts.

It was Brooklyn's first double overtime win since November 29, 2016 against the Los Angeles Clippers. The only loss in the last 10 games for the Nets has come at the hands of the Indiana Pacers, in a 114-106 defeat that snapped Brooklyn's seven-game win streak.

"Two days off and to fight back. I'm happy," Nets veteran forward Jared Dudley said on YES Network. "It just shows you, this team is making a turn."

The sudden shift arrives after Brooklyn's eight-game losing streak from late November to early this month. Dudley said "the film doesn't lie," emphasizing how hard the Nets worked to reverse their mistakes over that stretch and attain the do-or-die grit displayed on Wednesday night.

Brooklyn fearlessly attempted 47 3-pointers against Charlotte. 20-year-old rookie Rodions Kurucs carried out his first-career double-double, notching 13 points with 12 rebounds, three steals and a block to help top the Hornets. D'Angelo Russell and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson poured 16 points apiece, with forward DeMarre Carroll adding 12 more.

The Nets got off to a slow start in the first quarter, the Hornets outscoring them 29-22 with Charlotte guard Jeremy Lamb painting from beyond the arc. Brooklyn clawed back to lead at halftime, 56-51, and never looked back.

With just over three minutes in the fourth quarter, Kemba Walker brought the heat -- scoring the Hornets' last 12 points to bring Charlotte to its largest lead of the night at 104-96. Then Dinwiddie went into attack mode and cut the lead to five with his sixth three-pointer of the night. Kurucs hit a 3-pointer to tie it, then Harris was called for a foul as the Hornets trudged ahead for a difference of three.

Harris made up for the foul after a brief timeout, drilling a 3-pointer to tie the game at 107 apiece with 1:13 to play. A vintage Malik Monk wasn't having it, and pulled an And-1 with less than a minute to go in the fourth. After a handful of free throws from both sides, the Nets and Hornets were knotted up at 114 apiece and sent the game into an overtime that saw a little bit of everything.

Dinwiddie scored 30+ points for just the third time this season, firing up the Brooklyn crowd to get behind the raging Nets. With the game tied at 132, the Hornets took a full timeout. Harris, not missing a beat, stole the ball from Monk and accelerated down the court for a running layup -- the game winning two-pointer with three seconds left in double overtime.

As if the game wasn't wild enough, the horn went off before the final buzzer just as Monk missed a 3-point jump from 40 feet out. The referees intervened for a shot clock error and added six seconds back on the clock. Charlotte received one more chance and missed its opportunity, handing the Nets their ninth win in 10 games.

And in case that game wasn't dramatic enough, the Nets and Hornets will meet again in Charlotte for the back end of a home-and-home set on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
