Players will not face discipline from teams if they choose not to play in the NBA's restart bubble in Orlando, according to a memo sent to players by the NBPA.

Those players who decide that they don't want to play in Orlando need to inform their teams by June 24, the memo said. Here are other key points spelled out by the memo, obtained by SNY and first reported by The Athletic.

If a player chooses not to participate, his salary will be reduced by 1/92.6 for each game missed with a cap of 14 games even if his team plays more than 14 games.

Non-participating players who are either "excused" or "protected" will not have their salary reduced as a result of their non-participation. "Protected Players" are those players whose team believes they are at a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. "Excused Players" are those players who a panel of three medical experts determines to have a higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.

Some players, including Nets star and NBPA VP Kyrie Irving, have privately raised the idea of players sitting out of the restarted season due to health concerns, or to continue to raise awareness around police brutality and systemic racism.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver said on the NBA's social media channel that the league and players are discussing ways to help further the conversation against police brutality and systemic racism. He said he'd respect any player who chooses not to come to Orlando due to health concerns or to keep shining a light on social justice issues. Silver also pointed out that the players in Orlando will have a major platform to share their message.

"My sense is there will be enormous attention focused on the league and players in Orlando," Silver said. "….. If (players) chose to make a choice not to play in the NBA and think that they can do more dealing directly with social issues, I respect that."

The Nets and all other teams but one need to report to their home market by June 15. Mandatory testing begins June 23. The exception to this calendar is the Toronto Raptors who, "due to quarantine and travel issues in Canada," will travel directly to Naples, Fla. to begin training.

Once they report to their home market, players are expected to remain at home and only leave for training or treatment at the team facility or essential activities.

Players should wear masks or cloth face coverings at all times in team facilities and at all other times when away from home, except during a workout.

Mandatory testing begins June 23. Testing will consist of a shallow nasal swab and oral swab (COVID-19 PCR test) and a blood draw (serology/antibody test). The long (nasopharyngeal) swab that has been reported to cause discomfort will not be used, according to the memo.

Teams will take either a chartered flight or bus to Orlando on a staggered basis over July 7 through 9 to begin team activities. Teams can bring a maximum of 17 players, including two-way players who will be eligible for the playoffs this season.

Teams have the option to include a player's private security person, personal trainer, or massage therapist in the delegation of 36, but only one such individual for any one player.

When teams get to Orlando, players and team staff must stay isolated in their rooms until they return two negative PCR tests at least 24 hours apart (likely total of approximately 36-48 hours in-room). If both tests return a negative result, the player will no longer be quarantined.

Players will have the option to wear a proximity alarm at the Orlando Bubble Campus that will notify a player if he spends more than 5 seconds within 6 feet of another person on campus who is also wearing an alarm. All team and league staff (potentially excluding referees) must wear the alarm; it is optional for players.

COVID-19 testing will continue in Orlando, potentially as regularly as every day, if needed. At all times on the court, players must avoid, spitting or clearing their nose, wiping the ball with their jersey, licking their hands, and unnecessarily touching their mouthguard, the memo says.

Players need pre-approval to leave the bubble. If a player leaves without prior approval, upon re-entry, he will be subject to enhanced testing (including the deep nasal swab testing), , a 10-14 day self-quarantine period, and a reduction in compensation for any game in which he is unable to play while away from the bubble or during quarantine.

Upon completion of each team's season, the team will immediately depart the NBA Campus. For each player to leave the NBA Campus, he must have returned a negative PCR result within 24 hours of his scheduled departure.
