Brandon Nimmo doing tremendous job setting the tone during Mets’ winning streak

The Mets offense pounded the Yankees on Saturday 12-6, getting a grand slam  in the first inning from Brandon Nimmo and two homers from Pete Alonso, who is within six home runs of Darryl Strawberry's franchise record. Manager Carlos Mendoza said there was no doubt Nimmo's current hot streak has helped "set the tone" for offense. He thought Frankie Montas' outing was "solid" against the potent Yankees lineup. Mendoza was pleased to see Pete Alonso get back to "controlling the strike zone," and the result was a two-homer, five RBI performance.
