Judge was alongside Stanton and Gio Urshela on Monday. Stanton had worked in a simulated game where Boone said he would get 2-3 at-bats and do the same thing the following day. Both Judge and Stanton should be back by the weekend if all goes well.

Boone did give an actual return date for one of the injured Yankees, though. Urshela will be activated off the IL on Tuesday, as he was dealing with a bone spur in his right elbow.

Now, when Judge and Stanton do return, the lineup will be shifted quite a bit. But Boone assured everyone that Clint Frazier’s playing time won’t be hurt. He’ll be shifting to left field so Judge can play in right, and that would indicate most of Stanton’s time will be in the DH role.

Frazier has been playing very well in place of Judge in right field, slashing .280/.387/.516 with five homers and 19 RBI. But the bigger story for him this season is his much-improved defense, as he is making diving catches all over the field and taking better routes to fly balls. His Outs Above Average this year is 2, which is ranked second for right fielders only behind Mookie Betts.

All in all, the Yankees look to finally be getting back their top sluggers. Whether or not they remain healthy is the question, especially for Judge who didn’t even make it through one game before feeling that calf strain yet again.

The postseason is right around the corner, so having players like Judge and Stanton back in the lineup will be crucial for a World Series run.
