One week away from his third NFL Draft leading the Giants, GM Dave Gettleman should be putting the finishing touches on his big board and getting ready to pick at No. 4 overall in the first round.

But he must first field some questions during his pre-draft conference call with reporters on Thursday.

Gettleman may be a draft veteran, but he hasn't experience this like the rest of the league, as it will hold its first virtual draft due to coronavirus precautions. So, with that in mind, here's what he should be asked ahead of a very important draft for Big Blue...

1) How challenging has draft preparation been due to these new conditions?

We all know that every GM and coach has had to adjust to not being able to see each other face-to-face, and work in unison. Instead, it's been video conferencing and doing the best they can to work together ahead of the draft.

Gettleman is an old school GM, and you can slightly tell by his setup with the big binder of notes at home currently. It will be interesting to hear what, if anything, has changed about how he makes his draft analysis.

2) Have you heard from any teams about a potential trade-down situation? Is there any traction?

It's a question many want to know because this year looks to be the one where Gettleman might finally trade down. He's never done so in previous drafts, but with his quarterback situation figured out with the Daniel Jones pick in 2019, he isn't hard-pressed to stay exactly where he is.

Gettleman says he is open for business, so what teams have called? Though Gettleman probably won't reveal his answer, looking into what metaphor he'll probably use to answer it could indicate just how serious the situation could be. This will be a question leading all the way up to the Giants being on the clock.

3) How collaborative has Joe Judge been during this process? How strong is his say?

During his own conference call on Wednesday, Giants head coach Joe Judge reiterated his stance on the draft and taking the best player available at the selection. That mindset is the same as Gettleman's, and only furthers the statement that Gettleman made when Judge was introduced to the press a couple months back when he said it will be a collaborative operation.

Hearing how Gettleman and Judge have been working together at home is crucial to understand how in sync these two are already. While a draft is primarily on the GM's shoulders to make the picks, having that chemistry and collaborative effort with the head coach is needed to have a strong draft.

Also, how much will Judge's opinion on who the Giants should pick in the first round matter in the end?

4) What improvements do you think still need to be made to your roster?

This one seems very generic, but it's a good precursor to Gettleman giving some insight to his draft plan. If he mentions a certain position, or even talks more about defense than offense, you can get a grasp as to how he might be leaning.

For example, this wide receiver class is extremely deep, and Gettleman might want to get a top receiver higher up in the draft. But if he's talking about cornerback depth or his "Hog Mollies," we'll know where those early-round picks could be heading.

5) What will you miss most about being in the War Room?

It's a very stressful time when Draft Day finally comes around and the GM hands in the card for his first-round pick, hoping that's the right prospect in the long run.

But Gettleman and many other GMs can also tell you its a fun and exhilarating time to work alongside your counterparts, and see all that preparation and hard work come to fruition when the rookies locked in for next season.

Gettleman loves to go into detail with these types of stories, so I'd expect a good answer here.
