Three Mets prospects are listed on Baseball America's new Top 100 list in advance of the 2022 season.
Catcher Francisco Alvarez is ranked No. 13, third baseman Brett Baty checks in at No. 39, and shortstop Ronny Mauricio is No. 92.
Alvarez, who turned 20 in November, excelled for Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn (where he was roughly four years younger than the average player in the league) last season, slashing .272/.388/.554 with 24 homers and 18 doubles in 99 games.
BA notes that Alvarez's "fast swing and immense strength give him a chance to be an offensive force."
Alvarez will likely spend most of the 2022 season with Double-A Binghamton, and is on track to make his Mets debut in 2023.
Baty, 22, had a strong 2021 for Brooklyn and Binghamton, hitting .292/.382/.473 with 12 homers and 22 doubles in 91 games during what was his second professional season.
BA writes that Baty -- the Mets' possible third baseman of the future -- "showed hittability and power" last season.
Mauricio, 20, is more raw than Alvarez or Baty, but he still excelled last season while playing in Brooklyn (where he was roughly three years younger than the average player in the league) and Binghamton (where he was about four years younger than the average player).
In 108 games in 2021, Mauricio slashed .248/.296/.449 with 20 homers, 15 doubles, and five triples.
Curiously absent from the list is third baseman Mark Vientos, who had a huge 2021 season with Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse, slashing .281/.352/.581 with 25 homers and 18 doubles in 83 games.
Vientos, 22, is on the doorstep of the majors, and he will very likely make his big league debut at some point this season.
On SNY contributor Joe DeMayo's latest Top 20 Mets prospects list, Alvarez, Baty, and Mauricio are the top three, followed by Vientos and right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn, who could find himself on some Top 100 lists this season if he continues to impress.
