Brian Cashman made no secret of the fact that the Yankees general manager has tried several times to acquire Brewers' closer Devin Williams before finally "finding a match." Cashman felt the Yankees had enough depth in their starting rotation and middle infield to move lefthander Nestor Cortes and prospect Caleb Durbin in the deal. The GM also added that he had spoken to agent Scott Boras about a number of his clients including third baseman Alex Bregman.
