Mets manager Carlos Mendoza felt starter Kodai Senga did an outstanding job of using his entire arsenal in the Mets' 3-0 win over St. Louis. He also touched on another big day at the plate for Pete Alonso, calling him "a dangerous hitter." Mendoza updated the injury status of third baseman Mark Vientos, who left the game with a leg injury, saying "there's a low level of concern," and listed him as day-to-day.

Saying he was pretty sure "it was just a cramp," Mark Vientos didn't anticipate his leg injury that caused him to leave the game was serious. His teammates Kodai Senga and Pete Alonso took care of business in his absence, leading the Mets to a 3-0 win. Senga allowed just three hits over 5.2 innings but still had to escape some jams. Alonso continued to rake, doubling home a run in the third and launching his sixth HR in the eighth.  He said he hadn't been this "locked in" since college and his two RBI moved him into a tie for the National League lead with 23.

Both Mets manager Carlos Mendoza and starter David Peterson used the word "special" when describing Francisco Lindor both on and off the field. Mendoza said "you can feel his presence every day," and Peterson called him the "best shortstop in baseball," after his walk-off home run in the ninth inning. Asked where he was when Lindor connected, Peterson rather sheepishly said, "the bathroom" when he heard the roar of the big crowd.

Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor called his 250th career home run a "nice number." It was a lot more than that as it gave New York a 5-4 win in the bottom of the ninth inning, his first walk-off HR as a Met. He cited the contributions of several teammates, calling it a "fantastic win."

Francisco Lindor ended a seesaw battle between the Mets and Cardinals, blasting a walk-off home-run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give New York the victory after the Cardinals' Brendan Donovan had tied the game in the top of the inning. It was the 250th HR of Lindor's career and his first game-winning long ball as a Met.

There were no shortage of heroes for the Yankees on Wednesday night as they completed a three-game sweep of the Royals 4-3. Clarke Schmidt was thrilled to return to a packed house at Yankee Stadium for his first start of the season, tossing a strong 5.2 innings. Captain Aaron Judge snapped a 3-3 tie with a solo home run in the seventh inning and reliever Fernando Cruz took on the closer role with Devin Williams unavailable. Cruz got the job done but needed a little help from Cody Bellinger, who made a diving catch in the ninth inning to preserve the win.
