After three straight losses in Maui, UConn head coach Dan Hurley saw his team get back on track with an overwhelming 99-45 win over Maryland Eastern Shore. While admitting the winless excursion to Hawaii was shocking, Hurley feels a great deal of "grace and patience" is necessary as a virtually new team tries to live up to the championship expectations of the "monster program we have built."

UConn head coach Geno Auriemma thought the matchup against Ole Miss in the Baha Mar championship game would be a good test for the Huskies. Led by Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, UConn prevailed in a hard fought game,73-60. Auriemma was thrilled with Fudd's 18-point performance, especially after her injury-plagued first three seasons at UConn. Bueckers led all scorers with 29 points and while both players enjoyed the Bahamas experience, they were more satisfied with winning the tournament.

After UConn's 99-97 OT loss to Memphis at the Maui Invitational head coach Dan Hurley characterized a late foul in the overtime as a "a joke." Hurley was incredulous that the call was made with the game tied at 92 saying, "There was a player on Memphis that made a half-ass effort to rebound that basketball and Liam McNeeley high pointed that rebound, and for that call to be made at that point was a complete joke."
