With the Mets struggling to keep their starters healthy, they got a glimpse of what the future may hold in Blade Tidwell. He struck out five over two innings, the last three completed an immaculate inning. Tidwell was unaware of the accomplishment till he returned the dugout and isn't bashful about about saying, "I feel I can stack up against anyone."

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was duly impressed with Blade Tidwell's dominant performance, coming on the heels of Brandon Sproat's stellar outing on Friday saying, "Two young guys knocking on the door." Mendoza also likes what he's seeing from Jose Siri at the plate calling him "a talented man." The manager had no further update on Luisangel Acuña's elbow injury but added the Mets medical staff is not overly concerned.

Mets pitching prospect Blade Tidwell was unhittable, striking out five, including an immaculate second inning. Jose Siri started off the game with a diving grab in center field land and later crushed a three-run homer against his former team to provide run support as the Mets went on to thump the Rays 10-1. The only blemish on the day was young prospect Luisangel Acuña getting hit on the left elbow by a pitch. He remained in the game but left shortly thereafter and will be re-evaluated on Sunday.
