The Mets saw their nine-game winning streak snapped by the Reds on Sunday but got another stellar start from Luis Severino, who allowed just a run and five hits in 6.2 innings. Mets manager Mendoza praised the veteran righty for utilizing his entire repertoire, to keep the Reds in check. Severino feels he always has his high-velocity fastball when he needs it. He also talked about not paying attention to the other teams in the pennant race but focusing on just his Mets team.

Luis Severino delivered another stellar performance, allowing just one run and striking out eight over six and a third innings, but the Mets' offense struggled, managing only one run. The Reds scored two runs in the top of the ninth, securing a 3-1 win over the Mets.

 It's been a rough stretch for Mets OF Harrison Bader, mired in a 0-for-15 slump and just two hits in his last 33 at-bats but he came through in a big way on Saturday breaking a scoreless tie with an opposite-field home run to give the Mets a lead they would not relinquish for their ninth straight win. In light of his struggles Bader "just wants to keep the winning mentality and just want to produce for this team."

Mets starter Jose Quintana pitched 6.2 scoreless innings to earn his 100th MLB win and Harrison Bader broke a 0-for-15 slump with a solo home run, jump-starting a four-run sixth inning as the Mets blanked the Reds 4-0 for their ninth straight win.
