Tobias Myers is showing in Mets camp that he's more than just an afterthought as part of the Freddy Peralta trade. Myers struck out four batters in three innings of work and says the plan is to work up to "60-65 pitches and see where we're at." He's extremely impressed with the "great track record" of the Mets' pitching instructors, especially as he tries to add a splitter to his pitching arsenal.

Following in the footsteps of versatile former Met Jeff McNeil, Brett Baty is making the adjustment to playing several different positions, all while trying to produce quality at-bats at the plate. He's up for the challenge though, describing himself as a "worker that likes trying different things."

Mets OF MJ Melendez feels he's always had power to the opposite field as a lefty hitter but hasn't been able to display it consistently. After taking a deep dive into his swing with the Mets' hitting coaches, Melendez broke out on Friday with a pair of homers to left-center field and not surprisingly, "it felt good."

 Mets starting catcher Francisco Alvarez made his spring training debut behind the plate on Saturday and his most important takeaway is he feels "completely healthy." He did make some adjustments to his diet that have also contributed to his "feeling really good." Alvarez didn't think he would issue too many challenges in the new ABS system feeling the umpires have a tough enough job as it is.

Freddy Peralta breezed through three perfect innings as he builds towards his Mets' Opening Day assignment and MJ Melendez, in a battle to make the big league club, smashed a pair of opposite-field homers while driving in four runs in a 14-3 pounding of the Cardinals. Top outfield prospect A.J. Ewing also got in on the act with a two-run shot to straightaway center field.

New Mets ace Freddy Peralta tossed three perfect innings against the Cardinals on Friday, also found out he will be the Opening Day starter. Peralta was "excited" for himself and his family, especially since this is his first season in New York.

Yankees captain Aaron Judge has no qualms about returning virtually the same team as last season when they were eliminated by Toronto in the postseason. He feels the veteran players that returned and the renewed presence of Gerrit Cole can help them change the end result. Judge also touched on the "excitement" of playing in WBC and representing the USA. He hasn't quite figured out how he will deal with automated balls and strikes system but will form a game plan once he starts seeing live pitching again.
