Mets

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza shed some light on his ejection in the seventh inning, his dissatisfaction with home plate umpire Carlos Torres' strike zone the main culprit in a 5-3 loss. Mendoza was also clearly not pleased with Kodai Senga's first inning in which he allowed four runs. Francisco Alvarez expressed much more optimism, saying it was his best stuff of the season after the rough beginning. Senga hopes that being able to pull things together after a rocky first inning will earn him another opportunity.

Kodai Senga's return to the Mets rotation was a mixed bag, serving up a pair of home runs in the first inning, followed by three scoreless frames. Mark Vientos clubbed a pinch-hit two-run HR to bring the Mets to within two runs but New York again left several baserunners stranded in an eventual 5-3 defeat.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza and righty Tobias Myers pointed directly to Myers' inability to command the strike zone, resulting in the Reds roughing up Myers for seven runs in 1.1 innings as the opener in a 12-0 loss. Myers and the coaching staff are taking a "deep dive" into his mechanics which may be hampering his effectiveness.

It was a night to forget for the Mets who watched the Reds score nine runs in the first two innings off of Tobias Myers and Jonathan Pintaro, including a pair of home runs and six RBI from Eugenio Suarez in the eventual 12-0 loss. Bo Bichette was the lone bright spot for the Mets, garnering three of their six hits.

The Mets offense scored four runs in the opening frame. Jared Young started the scoring with an RBI single, A.J. Ewing followed with a bases-clearing two-run double, and Brett Baty added an RBI single of his own. Later in the fifth inning, A.J. Ewing and Marcus Semien went back-to-back with a pair of solo home runs. Juan Soto joined the barrage adding a two RBI single in the eighth. Freddy Peralta turned gave a strong outing for the Mets, pitching five innings and allowing one earned run on four hits and one walk while striking out two batters.
