Starter Kodai Senga sensed a pitching mechanics issue prior to starting Game 1 of the NLCS and it was all downhill from there as the Dodgers jumped out to a 3-0 lead and never looked back. David Peterson allowed four hits and two runs in his relief stint of an eventual 9-0 loss. Jesse Winker got the Mets' first hit in the fifth, then promptly got thrown out trying to go first to third on a Jose Iglesias single. Winker took full responsibility for his mistake and offered, "They had a great night tonight, we'll come back tomorrow and move forward."

The status of Jeff McNeil's availability has yet to be determined. McNeil went 1-for-4 in an Arizona Fall League game on Friday night and is scheduled to start again on Saturday. Mendoza: "We'll see if he is healthy, good chance he will be on the roster and go from there."

Starter Carlos Rodon called pitching a playoff game at Yankee Stadium a "cool experience," and for the first three innings it was, with Rodon dominating the Royals lineup. Just as quickly though, the lefty lost his way as Kansas City put up a four-spot en route to a 4-2 win. Rodon: "There was a point in the fourth I was trying to do a little more to get some swing and misses... I just want to be better than that." Manager Aaron Boone pointed to Rodon getting behind Salvador Perez, then giving up a solo home run as the start of his downfall. After allowing three more runs, Boone pulled Rodon admitting, "There's a shorter leash in the playoffs."
