It should come as no surprise that power pitcher Carson Wiggins was on the Mets radar as the 2026 MLB Draft approached. VP of Amateur Scouting Kris Gross and Scouting Director Drew Toussaint loved his size, athleticism and family background even though an arm injury kept him sidelined for Arkansas' college season. Gross detailed what made Wiggins a tremendous prospect including, hitting triple digits with his fastball and the improvement of his secondary pitches.

Interim Mets manager Andy Green pointed to the Mets going 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position as the most disappointing aspect of their 4-0 loss to Boston. He felt they had some opportunities despite registering just three hits but never got the timely knock when they needed it. Starter Freddy Peralta was equally frustrated on the mound, walking five batters and failing to get out of the fifth inning. He touched on a balance issue that seemed to throw him off his rhythm after the first two innings. Peralta: "It's a terrible feeling."
