Francisco Lindor made his spring training debut for the Mets on Sunday and collected his first hit in his 2026 campaign, while Marcus Semien homered as part of his three RBI day. Mike Tauchman and Luis Robert Jr. each added two hits to round out New York's offensive barrage in the shortened 8-1 Grapefruit League victory over Toronto.

Yankees captain Aaron Judge has no qualms about returning virtually the same team as last season when they were eliminated by Toronto in the postseason. He feels the veteran players that returned and the renewed presence of Gerrit Cole can help them change the end result. Judge also touched on the "excitement" of playing in WBC and representing the USA. He hasn't quite figured out how he will deal with automated balls and strikes system but will form a game plan once he starts seeing live pitching again.

For Mets first baseman Pete Alonso, it was "special" to hit his 250th career home run in the first inning and get the team off to a good start. The Giants would battle back to take the lead but Brandon Nimmo said the entire order did a great job adding on runs to break their four-game losing streak. Starter Kodai Senga continued to struggle, being pulled after four innings. He called his pitches "uncompetitive" but continues to try finding a rhythm for his next start.
