The Mets rallied in the eighth inning, tying the game at three on doubles by Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker, but they couldn’t capitalize in the 10th, and the Twins took advantage, handing New York a 4–3 defeat.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza attributed Tylor Megill's uneven outing was the inability to get ahead of the hitters in the 6-3 loss. Megill felt he threw plenty of strikes but acknowledged the high pitch count which ended his night after five innings. Francisco Lindor had the toughest night of all, calling his defensive miscues "unacceptable," and bluntly stating "I have to be better."
