Starter Carlos Rodon called pitching a playoff game at Yankee Stadium a "cool experience," and for the first three innings it was, with Rodon dominating the Royals lineup. Just as quickly though, the lefty lost his way as Kansas City put up a four-spot en route to a 4-2 win. Rodon: "There was a point in the fourth I was trying to do a little more to get some swing and misses... I just want to be better than that." Manager Aaron Boone pointed to Rodon getting behind Salvador Perez, then giving up a solo home run as the start of his downfall. After allowing three more runs, Boone pulled Rodon admitting, "There's a shorter leash in the playoffs."

The importance of this time and bringing a championship to the city...  the window won't be open forever." Both players talked abut the impact Juan Soto has had on the team's lineup with Judge adding, "he's the ultimate team player, the guy you want near the top of your lineup."
