The Brooklyn Cyclones broke out the offense on Saturday, scoring 15 runs on 20 hits in a 15-1 win over Wilmington. Mets prospect Jacob Reimer drove in five runs an and fellow prospect Eli Serrano reached base five times.

Jesse Winker called himself "grateful" to be on this Mets team after his game-tying triple set the stage for Francisco Lindor's winning sac fly. He also thanked the fans who were "loud all night" despite the inclement weather. Lindor said it reminded him that this Mets team will fight and compete. Even late in the game, down two runs, Lindor sensed the confidence that they would find a way to win.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza agreed this year's team has the same vibe as the 2024 group, coming through with another resilient win over Toronto on Saturday night. He called Francisco Lindor a "big game player' after delivering the game-winning run in the ninth, The Mets bullpen continues to excel and Mendoza believes there's a trust amongst the players in each other that no obstacle is too big to overcome.

SNY’s Steve Gelbs caught up with Francisco Lindor on the field after his sac fly won it for the Mets in the bottom of the ninth. Lindor credited Jose Siri, Jesse Winker and Edwin Diaz among others for putting him in position to deliver in game-winner against Toronto.

Francisco Lindor hit the ground running in the Mets home opener literally, legging out a first inning double and scoring on Pete Alonso's two-run homer. Lindor thought the atmosphere was "fantastic."  He called timeout at one point because he wanted to hear the fans.

Mets starter Tylor Megill called Opening Day at Citi Field "electric," and thanked the fans for getting the entire stadium amped up. Brandon Nimmo thoroughly enjoyed the win as well, delivering an RBI double in the sixth inning after Pete Alonso was walked intentionally in front of him. He also talked about the impact both Alonso and Juan Soto have already had just a week into the season.

Yankees

The Yankees launched three more home runs, scoring nine times but then had to hold off a late Arizona charge to win 9-7. Trent Grisham and Jazz Chisholm, who each homered themselves, were still in awe of Aaron Judge's three-hit, four-RBI performance including his fifth homer of the young season. Judge chose to credit his teammates for taking quality at-bats and making big pitches in avoiding a sweep.

Former Yankee Nestor Cortes had a day to forget as his former team exploded for 20 runs, including nine home runs in a 20-9 rout. Aaron Judge blasted three homers and drove in eight runs while Cody Bellinger had three hits and four RBI. Paul Goldschmidt started things off with a solo shot to lead off the first inning in which they went deep four times. He talked about continuing to add on and admitted the team's familiarity with Cortes' pitching played a big part in their success. Bellinger said "it was super unique" to be a part of but was also in awe of Judge's monster day. The Yankees' captain tried to downplay his performance but agreed the atmosphere was "electric."
