Interim Mets manager Andy Green, Francisco Lindor, Juan Soto and Carson Benge all agreed their six-HR outburst was a result of being on the attack right from Lindor's leadoff shot in the first. Green also credited Zac Thornton with being in attack mode on the mound, closing out the seventh inning with a double-play ball after he paid the lefty a visit to gauge if he had something left in the tank.

The Mets clubbed six home runs and got a stellar pitching performance from Zac Thornton to rout the Yankees 12-2. Francisco Lindor launched a pair of HRs including a grand slam. Luis Torrens, Carson Benge, Juan Soto and Jared Young all went deep while the rookie Thornton allowed just two runs over seven innings in his finest outing of the season.

Despite the slow start and going 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position, the offense kept the game interesting, bringing the tying and go-ahead runs to the plate multiple times late in the game. A.J. Ewing was the lone bright spot in the lineup, going 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a solo home run in the ninth.
