The Mets had several chances to win in extra innings after a dramatic three-run rally in the ninth inning to tie the game at five but manager Carlos Mendoza said, "we needed the last one and we didn't get it." Mendoza lamented the team's failure to make adjustments at the plate and continually hitting ground balls that failed to produce the winning run.

Jeff McNeil thought the team took some really good at-bats and played hard but came up short in their 13-inning loss to the Dodgers. McNeil's two-run triple in the ninth inning helped the Mets tie the game and send it to extras. Mark Vientos felt some abdominal pain while in the hitting cage prior to the game and was kept out of the lineup. Brandon Nimmo aggravated a neck injury he originally sustained in 2019 and removed himself after one at-bat.

She became ill and required medical attention which left the Huskies shorthanded in an eventual lopsided loss. UConn head coach Geno Auriemma reflected back to the 2022 championship game against South Carolina when some team members became ill and were no match for Dawn Staley's squad. He said the major difference between this year's team and years past is a younger roster including freshman standout Sarah Strong, who has impressed Auriemma with her maturity. Holding it all together though was Paige Bueckers and her dedication to the UConn program. "She deserves to go out a national champion."

UConn star Paige Bueckers is "probably going to be sad" regardless of the outcome against South Carolina knowing it will be her final game in a Huskies uniform. She spoke about her close relationship with head coach Geno Auriemma and his ability to push the right buttons for the team. Bueckers also expressed her admiration and respect for Dawn Staley's South Carolina program.
