Mets

Interim Mets manager Andy Green appreciated starter Sean Manaea throwing 108 pitches over five innings to try and spare the bullpen but it didn't take away from Manaea's dreadful performance in allowing six earned runs in a 14-3 drubbing by the Braves. Green and Tyrone Taylor discussed a pop up that Taylor and SS Francisco Lindor allowed to drop, extending the inning for the Braves. In the end it was just one symptom of an all-around bad night.

Calling it an "unbelievable experience," Mets outfielder Juan Soto was named to the National League All-Star team. He appreciated the support of the fans in the U.S. and the Dominican Republic and did not rule out the possibility of participating in the Home Run Derby.

The Mets first-round pick in 2023 Colin Houck, continues to make strides at the plate. On Saturday. Houck blasted a two-run homer and later added a double for Hi-A Brooklyn. Up in Triple-A Syracuse, big right hander Jack Wenninger delivered a gem, allowing just one hit over seven innings and striking out five.

Interim Mets manager Andy Green thought starter Christian Scott fell behind in some counts that saw the Braves follow up with the long ball. Scott was not happy with the command of his secondary pitches and needs to "be better." Green was very encouraged by Kodai Senga's 2.2 innings of relief and Senga himself talked about having more "fun" out on the mound regardless of when he's called upon.

The Mets held the Braves to just four hits on Friday night but they were all home runs, including a pair from Matt Olson in a 5-3 New York loss. Juan Soto belted a two-run HR to keep the  Mets within striking distance but their ninth-inning rally came up short.

Yankees starter Brendan Beck's first major league start was one to forget as the Twins pounded him for five runs and five hits including three home runs in 3.2. innings. Beck was mostly disappointed at putting the team in a hole early and Yankees manager Aaron Boone talked about Beck's calling card being his "elite" command which wasn't evident on Saturday.

After suffering a 6-2 defeat to the Tigers, Aaron Boone, Will Warren and Jazz Chisholm Jr. addressed the media. Boone did not sugar coat what was a seventh straight loss, saying the team needs to get over it. Warren said the team must get back on track following the day off, while Jazz said "we make a lot of mistakes and I feel like we beat ourselves."

The Yankees' struggles continued on Monday night, losing their fifth game in a row to the Detroit Tigers 7-3. Starter Ryan Weathers didn't make it out of the second inning, allowing five runs and watched the team's offense mange just three hits. Adding to their woes was a collision between Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jasson Dominguez on a pop up that has Chisholm Jr. in concussion protocol. Manager Aaron Boone and veteran OF Cody Bellinger says the team has no choice but to grind through this brutal stretch.
