Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor knows the team has to establish a "new identity" for 2025 and put last year's postseason run behind them. A new piece to the puzzle is star Juan Soto: "I think he's a fantastic man and a great player, I think he's going to do very well for us." When asked about possibly becoming the next Mets captain after having established himself as an unquestioned team leader Lindor stated, "Not up to me to decide but I wouldn't take it for granted, it would be very humbling."

For Jeff McNeil, struggled the the first half of 2024 but he came back strong after the All-Star break and is excited to be back to 100 percent health. The Mets second baseman made some swing adjustments that he feels will definitely help him at the plate. "Sometimes my swing gets in trouble when I try to guide the ball... worked hard this offseason to get stronger, improve my bat speed and hopefully see some results." McNeil was also thrilled to have long-time teammate Pete Alonso back in the fold saying, "One of my best fiends, played with him since 2016, so happy he's here and excited for him to show up."

Stroman arrived at camp after missing the first two days of camp and emphasized he will only start and not pitch out of the bullpen. The Yankees' brain trust feels it's much too early to name a starting rotation but had no issue with Stroman speaking out.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman commented on Marcus Stroman finally arriving at Yankees' camp and declaring, "I'm a starter." Cashman agreed with that assessment but wants spring training to play out before deciding on the final roster. One thing he made crystal clear is the man to lead the team through 2025 and beyond is Aaron Boone. Cashman and owner Hal Steinbrenner are working on an extension to keep Boone in the Bronx over the long haul. As for the 2025 team, he pointed out the adjustments their American League counterparts have made and while it won't be easy to make another postseason run, "If we can stay healthy... I'll take my chances with team we got."
