Captain Aaron Judge doesn't perceive the Yankees' task as pressure, calling it "the same games we've been playing all year." Both players talked abut the impact Juan Soto has had on the team's lineup with Judge adding, "he's the ultimate team player, the guy you want near the top of your lineup." Judge also touched on the Royals turnaround this season and knows the Yankees will have their hands full with a dynamic young opponent.

In their 8-4 loss to the Brewers, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza was not happy with home plate umpire Ramon De Jesus who ejected him after Mendoza argued a questionable strike three call against Francisco Alvarez that would have loaded the bases. Of more concern was the back injury suffered by the Mets catcher after sliding into third base. Alvarez was helped off the field but appeared to be feeling better postgame. Mendoza also announced that Jose Quintana will get the start Saturday night against the Brewers with Sunday's starter still to be decided.
