Interim Mets manager Andy Green spoke about the team's pitching performance, saying: "It was a tough day for us." Relief pitcher Austin Warren said he has been missing spots his last few outings, while A.J. Ewing was a bright spot for New York offensively. He went 4-for-4 with a home run.

Juan Soto and A.J. Ewing both hit home runs but the Mets ultimately fell to the Kansas City Royals 16-12. New York surrendered seven runs in the 7th inning, and lost just the second game in their history after scoring twelve runs.

Interim Mets manager Andy Green called the Mets comeback win in Atlanta "gutsy." He described Juan Soto as the best hitter in the game after three-run bomb in the ninth put them ahead. Freddy Peralta called him "amazing" and his mental toughness is on another level. Green wasn't surprised at Luis Torrens' huge two-run double in the 10th inning, having managed him in San Diego a decade ago and admired his ability to do whatever it took to help the team win.

Juan Soto blasted a three-run HR in the top of the ninth inning to give the Mets a 5-3 lead but Atlanta's Matt Olson answered back in the bottom of the ninth with his second homer of the game to tie it. In the 10th, Luis Torrens laced a two-run double to put the Mets back on top and this time they hung on for the 7-6 win.

Following the Yankees' 6-1 loss against the Twins on Sunday, manager Aaron Boone discussed what he is seeing as the Yankees suffer their ninth loss in their last ten games. Also, starting pitcher Ryan Weathers spoke on his rough day on the mound, Cody Bellinger gave an assessment on the team's struggles, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. gave an update on his toe injury as he exited Sunday's after five innings.

Yankees starter Brendan Beck's first major league start was one to forget as the Twins pounded him for five runs and five hits including three home runs in 3.2. innings. Boone did not sugar coat what was a seventh straight loss, saying the team needs to get over it. Warren said the team must get back on track following the day off, while Jazz said "we make a lot of mistakes and I feel like we beat ourselves."

The Yankees' struggles continued on Monday night, losing their fifth game in a row to the Detroit Tigers 7-3. Starter Ryan Weathers didn't make it out of the second inning, allowing five runs and watched the team's offense mange just three hits. Adding to their woes was a collision between Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jasson Dominguez on a pop up that has Chisholm Jr. in concussion protocol. Manager Aaron Boone and veteran OF Cody Bellinger says the team has no choice but to grind through this brutal stretch.
