He talked about continuing to add on and admitted the team's familiarity with Cortes' pitching played a big part in their success. He said the major difference between this year's team and years past is a younger roster including freshman standout Sarah Strong, who has impressed Auriemma with her maturity. Holding it all together though was Paige Bueckers and her dedication to the UConn program. "She deserves to go out a national champion."

UConn star Paige Bueckers is "probably going to be sad" regardless of the outcome against South Carolina knowing it will be her final game in a Huskies uniform.
