Gary Cohen
Mets Play-by-Play Announcer
Gary Cohen is SportsNet New York's play-by-play announcer for all SNY produced Mets telecasts. He has called more than 2,500 games for the network since its launch in 2006. Cohen also contributes to SNY's Mets pre-and post-game shows and Mets Hot Stove. Prior to joining SNY, Cohen was a member of the Mets' radio team for 17 seasons.
In addition to his work with SNY, Cohen has been the radio voice for Seton Hall University basketball since 2003 and does the NCAA basketball Tournament for Westwood One radio.
Previously Cohen has done play-by-play on major league baseball broadcasts for CBS Radio from 1991-1997, and for ESPN Radio since 1998. Cohen has also served as the play-by-play announcer for the NCAA Basketball Tournament for CBS Radio as well as the radio voice of St. John's University basketball from 1995-2002. Cohen has also done play-by-play for Rangers games, as well as served as the men's and women's hockey play-by-play announcer at the 1992, 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics for CBS Radio.
Before coming to the Mets, Cohen broadcast minor league baseball for the Pawtucket Red Sox (AAA) of the International League (1987-1988), the Durham Bulls of the Class-A Carolina League (1986) and Spartanburg Spinners (A) of the South Atlantic League (1983-1984).
Cohen was recently inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame. He was also inducted into the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame for his three decades of work in sports broadcasting.
A graduate of Columbia University, Cohen resides in Connecticut with his wife Lynn.
Keith Hernandez
Mets Analyst
Keith Hernandez joined SNY in 2006 and is the network's Mets game analyst - working over 100 telecasts each season. In addition to his work on SNY’s award-winning Mets game broadcasts, Hernandez contributes to SNY's Mets pre- and post-game shows and Mets Hot Stove.
Prior to joining SNY, Hernandez served as a Mets game analyst for MSG Networks and as a baseball analyst for the network's Major League Baseball post-season playoff coverage, including the Subway World Series between the Yankees and Mets. Hernandez has won three Emmy Awards for best "Sports Analyst" for his work on SNY in 2009, 2012, and 2015.
Hernandez's Major League Baseball career began in 1974 with the St. Louis Cardinals where he quickly rose to the upper echelon in the League. In 1979, his .344 batting average led the majors and he shared National League MVP honors with Willie Stargell. He joined the New York Mets in 1983 and was instrumental in turning the team around, becoming a cornerstone of the 1986 World Series Championship squad. In addition to being named the first captain in Mets history, Hernandez earned a record 11 consecutive Gold Glove awards from 1978-1988 as a first baseman, batted over .300 in six different seasons, and finished with a lifetime .296 batting average and a career on-base percentage of .384. His career spanned 17 seasons, ending in 1990 with the Cleveland Indians.
Hernandez has been inducted into both the Rawlings Gold Glove Hall of Fame and the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the New York Mets Hall of Fame and in 2022 he was honored by the Mets by having his number, 17, retired.
Hernandez was born in San Francisco, Calif. Hernandez splits time between homes in Sag Harbor and Florida.
Ron Darling
Mets Analyst
Ron Darling joined SNY in 2006 and is a game analyst for the network's award-winning Mets game broadcasts. In addition to his 100 games in the SNY booth, Darling also contributes to SNY's Mets pre- and post-game shows, and Mets Hot Stove. Darling won an Emmy Award for best "Sports Analyst" in his first season with SNY then again in 2011, 2017 and 2022.
In addition to his work at SNY, Darling is an offseason studio analyst for The MLB Network and a game analyst for Turner Sports' MLB regular season and post-season coverage.
Prior to joining SNY, Darling served as the color commentator for the Washington Nationals on Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) for the 2005 season, where he called 150 games. Prior to working at MASN, Ron served as an on-air analyst for Fox Sports Net.
Darling spent nine seasons as a starting pitcher for the New York Mets and was a key member of their 1986 World Championship and 1988 Division Champion teams. He also has the distinction of being the first Mets pitcher to be awarded the Gold Glove Award. After a short stint with the Montreal Expos, the All-Star pitcher finished his career spending five seasons with the Oakland Athletics.
Darling has been inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame, New York State Baseball Hall of Fame, and most recently the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
In addition to his work on SNY, Darling is on the Board of Directors for the Diabetes Research Institute.
Darling was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and attended Yale University where he was a two-time All-American - leading the Bulldogs to two Ivy League titles. He currently resides with his family in Connecticut.
Gary Apple
Studio Anchor/Host
Gary Apple brings more than 25 years of experience to SNY's news team, where he serves as host of Mets Pre and Post-Game Live. Apple also hosts the pre-game, half-time and post-game shows for the 11-time national champion UConn Huskies women's basketball program.
Prior to joining SNY, Apple worked at NBA TV as a studio host, and also as a studio host and anchor for MSG Network's studio show, SportsDesk. Prior to that, Apple spent more than seven years on WCBS-TV in NY, where his work was celebrated as the best sportscast in 2003 by the New York State Broadcasters Association. Additionally, at CBS-2, Apple hosted "Sports Rap Live," and served as sideline reporter for New York Jets preseason NFL football. Also, while at CBS, Apple served as a sideline reporter for CBS Sports NASDAQ College Football and the College World Series, as well as studio host for CBS Sports Desk. He also made numerous appearances on the CBS Early Show.
Apple has also been a studio host for WFAN Radio and the Outdoor Life Network, where he co-hosted Summer Sportszone. He also did play-by-play for The Football Network's coverage of Ivy League Football during the Fall of 2003. Prior to that, he was seen as a sportscaster on the award-winning KTLA-TV, Channel 5, in Los Angeles and throughout America on Prime Sports' Press Box. From 1990 through 1995, Apple was a sportscaster for Los Angeles TV station KTTV (FOX O&O). Before KTTV, Apple was the weekday sports anchor at KMOV-TV, the CBS station in St. Louis from 1986-1990. In 2010, Apple won an Emmy Award for hosting the SportsNite: Lebron James special
Apple's other credits include: reporting for ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" and play-by-play for USA Network's college basketball and for University of Missouri basketball. He has also worked for WNYT-TV (NBC affiliate), Albany, NY and WTOC-TV (CBS affiliate), Savannah, GA. While at WTOC, Apple was lauded with an Associated Press Award for Best Sports Reporting.
A native of Troy, N.Y., Apple graduated from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. He lives in New York with his wife and two daughters.
Ian Begley
NBA Insider
Ian Begley joined SNY in 2019 as the network's first NBA Insider covering the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets. His show, "The Putback with Ian Begley," appears weekly on SNY.tv, and he can also be seen on "SportsNite."
Before coming to SNY, Begley was a reporter for ESPN covering the Knicks and the NBA. Prior to covering the Knicks/NBA, Begley served as a general assignment reporter for ESPN New York, covering the local MLB, NFL, NHL and NBA teams.
Prior to ESPN, Begley wrote for the New York Daily News covering high school and collegiate sports as well as New York's professional teams for the newspaper.
He is a graduate of the University of Richmond.
He is a Rockland County, New York native and currently lives on Long Island with his wife and two children.
Allen Bestwick
UConn Women's Basketball Play-by-Play Announcer
Allen Bestwick is an award-winning television and radio broadcaster who has enjoyed a 40-plus year career covering sports. He serves as play-by-play television voice of the 11-time National Champion UConn Huskies Women’s Basketball team for SNY.
His resume includes serving as a television play-by-play announcer or host for the Indianapolis 500, US Open, Wimbledon, Daytona 500, college football, college basketball, golf and NASCAR.
Previously Bestwick spent 10 years with ESPN and ABC (2007-2017) covering a wide variety of sports, moving over from NBC and TNT where he covered NASCAR and other sports including track and field and Arena Football. Bestwick joined NBC in 1998 and TNT in 1997.
From 1986 through 2000, Bestwick served as radio play-by-play announcer for Motor Racing Network, broadcasting NASCAR events to over 500 affiliate stations across the United States.
Other career highlights include working with ABC Radio Networks in New York City as an associate on the famed “American Top 40” radio program, and at the Mutual Broadcasting System in Washington, DC, originators of the “Larry King Show” and other broadcasts.
Bestwick, 59, has been an avid fan of both sports and broadcasting all his life, playing three sports as a youth in his native Rhode Island and idolizing such broadcasting legends as Jim McKay, Fred Cusick and Don Imus. He began his broadcasting career on a local high school-based radio station at age 16.
He currently resides in Florida and Rhode Island with wife Pamela, is the father of two sons, Allen III and Jason, and stepfather of Andrew and Austin.
Jeané Coakley
Jets Reporter
Coakley serves as SNY’s lead New York Jets beat reporter. Jeane joined SNY in 2010 as an anchor and sports reporter. She regularly contributes to SNY's sports and entertainment news shows.
Prior to joining SNY, Coakley worked at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, Indiana since 2006. While at WISH-TV, she covered all sports including the Colts, Pacers, Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, Big Ten football and basketball as well as the Indianapolis Tennis Championship featuring Andy Roddick and James Blake.
Coakley won an Emmy Award in 2010 for her coverage of the Jets on SNY. Coakley has also won two Associated Press awards.
A New York state native, she is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.
Willie Colon
Jets Studio Analyst
Willie Colon first joined SNY in 2015 and is currently a color analyst for the networks award winning Jets pre- and post-game shows.
In addition to his work with SNY, Colon has made many appearances on ESPN, NFL Network, FOX Sports, and CBS Sports. He is currently a morning show host on Morning Men with Mad Dog Sports at SiriusXM.
Colon, an NFL veteran, played 10 seasons in the league. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2006, he made two Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl in XLIII 2008. In 2013, Colon returned to New York, his hometown, to play for the New York Jets. While with the Jets he was awarded with the Marty Lyons Award - given to the player who gives from the heart through charity and community involvement.
He is a co-founder of the Willie and Aikisha Colon Foundation. The foundation is committed to bettering underserved and underprivileged communities, focusing on the founders’ home communities of South Bronx, New York, and Jackson, Mississippi. They focus on education, economic development, physical and mental wellness, and sports. The Willie and Aikisha Colon Foundation also partners with Lupus Research Alliance annually for the Willie Colon Golf Outing, benefitting the Jean Davis Lupus Research Grant. This is a grant started in honor of his mother, Jean Davis Colon.
Colon was born in the Bronx, NY and attended Hofstra University. Colon was recently inducted into Hofstra’s Hall of Fame.
Meghan Culmo
UConn Women’s Basketball Analyst
Meghan Culmo has been SNY’s color analyst for the 11-time national champion UConn Huskies women's basketball program since 2012.
Prior to joining SNY, Meghan Culmo has been a color analyst on radio and television all over the country for more than a decade. She has appeared on Connecticut Public Television, ESPN, MSG and Lifetime Television, among others. While at CPTV, she hosted "The Geno Auriemma Show", which she has done for the past 15 years.
Meg's playing career featured several historic milestones, including the first ever BIG EAST Regular Season and Tournament Championships. She was a 1,000-point scorer and All BIG EAST performer -- as well as Captain her senior year. Meg earned Most Outstanding Player at the 1991 BIG EAST Championships as the Huskies claimed the title. Her resume also includes being a member of the coaching staff that helped guide the Huskies to their very first NCAA National Championship.
Jim Duquette
Mets Studio Analyst
Duquette joined SNY in 2012 as Mets studio analyst and contributor on Mets pre- and post-game shows and can be seen on Baseball Night in New York and Mets Hot Stove.
Before SNY, Duquette served as a Major League Baseball executive for the New York Mets, Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles. Duquette first joined the Mets in 1991 as an assistant to the Minor Leagues. In 1997, Duquette was named farm director for the Houston Astros, a position he held for one season prior to returning to the Mets under the same title. He maintained this role within the organization until 2002 when he became Assistant GM/Player Personnel. Soon after, in 2004, Duquette was named team general manager, becoming the third youngest GM in baseball at the time. In 2005, under Omar Minaya, he transitioned to senior vice president of player personnel. Following the season, Duquette left the organization to pursue a role as vice president of baseball operations for the Baltimore Orioles, sharing the GM duties with Mike Flanagan until October 2007.
Duquette hosts "Power Alley" on Sirius XM's MLB Network Radio and is featured on MLB.com. He currently resides in Maryland.
Steve Gelbs
Mets Field Reporter, Jets Studio Programming Host
Steve Gelbs joined Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling in 2015 as member of SNY’s Emmy Award winning Mets broadcast team. In addition to his role as Mets Field Reporter, Gelbs was recently named SNY’s Jets Studio Programming Host, which includes SNY’s exclusive pre- and post-game shows throughout the Jets season. Gelbs joined SNY in 2013 as an anchor and sport reporter contributing to the network’s sports and entertainment shows. He is also a regular contributor to SNY's Mets pre-and post-game shows, Baseball Night in New York and Mets Hot Stove.
Prior to joining SNY, Steve spent a year and a half at MSG Network, as well as four years at MSG Varsity in New York. On the TV side at MSG Network, Steve served as a host of the "MSG 150" during Knicks and Rangers telecasts, as well as a host for the network's College Basketball coverage. On MSG Radio Network, Steve handled the pre-game, post-game and intermission reports for Rangers Broadcasts - which aired on ESPN Radio in New York. In his four years at MSG Varsity, Steve was utilized in several different capacities. He was an anchor, host, feature & sideline reporter, play-by-play announcer and color commentator. While at MSG Varsity, Steve was nominated for four New York Emmys, including "Sports Anchor of the Year" in 2012.
Steve graduated from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2009, with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. He won the Syracuse Press Club Award for "Best Radio Sports Feature," in 2009.
Connor Hughes
NFL Insider
Connor Hughes joined SNY in 2022 as its NFL Insider, covering the New York Jets and New York Giants. Aside from columns, features and analysis, Hughes contributes on SNY’s various television programming and digital platforms, including hosting SNY’s new digital series, Jets Class.
Hughes began covering the NFL in 2014. He spent a short stint on the Giants beat before crossing town to cover the Jets. Hughes worked for The Star-Ledger/NJ.com from 2016 through 2018, then joined The Athletic and remained there through the 2021 season.
A 2015 graduate of Monmouth University, Hughes grew up in Tabernacle, N.J., where he attended Seneca High School. He currently lives in Princeton, N.J., with his family.
Niki Lattarulo
Sports Anchor/Host
Niki Lattarulo joined SNY as a sports anchor, host, and reporter in June of 2023. Prior to SNY she worked as a sports anchor/reporter in Nashville, TN for a year and Waco, TX for two and a half years.
Lattarulo was born and raised in Northern New Jersey and graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a double major in journalism and communications. At URI Lattarulo worked as a reporter for URI Athletics where she covered Dan Hurley and the Rams’ back-to-back NCAA Tournament runs.
Michelle Margaux
Host/Reporter
Michelle Margaux joined SNY as a sports anchor, host, and reporter in 2019. She is a regular on SNY’s “Baseball Night in New York” and “SportsNite.”
Prior to SNY, Margaux worked as a sideline reporter for the Houston Rockets and the Houston Astros. She also worked as a sideline reporter for the Tampa Bay Rays on FOX Sports Florida. In addition, she served as reporter and a host for FOX Sports San Diego.
A California native, Margaux is a graduate of the University of San Diego with a BA in Communications and Political Science.
Andy Martino
MLB Insider
As SNY's MLB Insider, Andy Martino covers the New York Mets and Yankees, regularly appearing on SNY's sports and entertainment news shows including Baseball Night in New York and Mets Hot Stove. He won an Emmy for his work with SNY in 2014.
Before coming to SNY, Martino covered baseball and pop culture for the New York Daily News. Prior to the New York Daily News, Martino was a reporter and columnist for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Martino is a former New York City public school teacher, and holds a degree in creative writing from Purchase College, SUNY, and an M.S. in journalism from Columbia University.
Eamon McAnaney
Host/Reporter
Eamon McAnaney debuted in 2011 as a contributor appearing on SNY's sports and entertainment news shows before moving to a full-time position in January 2017.
McAnaney, a native New Yorker, started his television career upon graduation from Notre Dame University as a production assistant for ESPN in 1992. Eight years later, he made the switch to on-air where he worked as a weekend anchor in Bangor, Maine. He quickly soon moved back to the New York area to become the sports director for Channel 10 News in Palisades Park, NJ. In 2001, McAnaney transitioned over again to on-air to become a sports reporter and anchor with News 12.
In 2007 was named analyst for MSG's high school lacrosse game of the week and later that year started covering college lacrosse for ESPNU. By 2010, he had become ESPNU's lead play by play announcer for college lacrosse and has called all the action from Championship Weekend up until 2015.
McAnaney currently resides in Manhattan with his wife and two children.
Connor Rogers
The Mets Pod Co-Host/Jets Analyst
Connor Rogers joined SNY in 2022 as an analyst for SNY’s acclaimed Jets Pre and Post Game shows. Rogers, alongside Joe DeMayo, also hosts SNY’s popular podcast, The Mets Pod.
In addition to his work with SNY, Rogers covers the NFL Draft and hosts 'Fantasy Football Happy Hour' for NBC Sports.
Rogers was recently nominated for a New York Emmy Award for his work on SNY.
Rogers is a graduate of the University of Albany.
Bart Scott
Jets Analyst
Bart Scott joined SNY in 2018 as an analyst for the network's New York Jets studio shows, "Jets Pre-Game Live" and "Jets Post-Game Live."
Scott is also currently a co-host on ESPN New York 98.7 FM, sports talk radio and regularly contributes to ESPN’s television’s daily morning shows "Get Up" and "First Take." Prior to ESPN, Scott was a co-host on WFAN sports talk radio and was a studio analyst for the CBS television network's NFL pregame show, "The NFL Today," from 2014-16. In addition to "The NFL Today," Scott contributed to "Inside the NFL" on Showtime.
Scott was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven seasons - Baltimore Ravens (2002-08) and the New York Jets (2009-12). In 2006, he was a Pro Bowl selection and earned All-Pro honors.
Scott graduated from Southern Illinois University and is a member of the school's Hall of Fame.
Chelsea Sherrod
Host/UConn Reporter
Chelsea Sherrod joined SNY as a sports anchor, host, and reporter in 2022. In 2023, Sherrod added to her role, becoming the sideline reporter for SNY’s game coverage for the 11-time national champion UConn Huskies women's basketball program.
Prior to SNY, Sherrod was with NESN, where she anchored their nightly news show, reported on the New England Patriots and hosted digital segments primarily focused on sports betting. Before that, she was an anchor/MMJ at WKTV in Utica, NY.
Sherrod was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut and attended Albertus Magnus College as an undergrad, where she was team captain of the basketball team. She went on to receive her Master’s Degree from Sacred Heart University.
Kara Wolters
UConn Women’s Basketball Analyst
Kara Wolters is SNY’s studio analyst for pre-game, half-time and post-game shows for the eleven-time national champion UConn women's basketball program. She has served in this role since 2012.
Prior to joining SNY, Kara Wolters spent six seasons as the color commentator for the UConn women's basketball team on WTIC-1080 AM.
Her basketball career includes playing four years under Coach Geno Auriemma -- earning an NCAA Championship in 1995 where she helped her team post a 35-0 record. Kara went on to become one of only seven players in the world to achieve the elusive championship "set" -- NCAA championship (1995), the WNBA championship (1999) and an Olympic gold medal (2000). Kara also won a gold medal for the USA Jones Cup Team (1996); won a gold medal for the USA World University Games Team (1997), and a silver medal in 1995. She played on the US National Team in 1997-98 and 1999-2000. She also earned a European championship with her pro team in Schio, Italy. Wolters was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.
In 1998 she began Kara Kares, a foundation to fund brain tumor research, in honor of her sister, Katie, who passed away as the result of a brain tumor in 2004.
Todd Zeile
Mets Studio Analyst
Todd Zeile joined SNY in 2019 as the network's lead studio Mets analyst. Alongside Gary Apple, Zeile hosts SNY's exclusive Mets Pre and Post-Game Live shows. He also regularly contributes to SNY's nightly program Baseball Night in New York. During the 2019 season, Zeile did 22 games in the booth calling Mets games. Zeile has been a contributor on SNY since appearing on the network's Mets postseason coverage in 2006. Zeile was recognized with an Emmy Award in 2022, as Best Sports Analyst for his work on SNY.
Zeile played in the MLB for 16 seasons from 1989 to 2004, for 11 teams. Zeile played for three seasons with the Mets including his final season in MLB. On Oct. 3, 2004, he became one of 41 players ever to hit a home run in his final at-bat.
Following his retirement, Zeile pursued another passion: film and TV production. His biggest success was as Executive Producer of the hit sitcom "Anger Management" starring Charlie Sheen.
Zeile was recently inducted in the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame.
Zeile graduated from UCLA, where he played collegiate baseball primarily as a catcher. He still spends a considerable amount of time on the West Coast with his four children, Garrett, Hannah, Ian, and Aaron, his wife Kristin, and her 3 children, Madison, Mackenzie, and Max.
