With reports out there that former MLB All-Star Alex Rodriguez might want to buy the Mets, Jimmy Fallon had to ask him the question during his late night show on Monday night.
A-Rod smiled saying "that's a great question," but here is how he answered:

"Here's what it is: I love New York City," he began on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. "A lot of people don't know this, but growing up I was a big Mets fan. And with the exception of my daughters' birth, both of them, the best years of my life were 1986 and 2009 when we [the Yankees] won.
"So I will say this: If the opportunity came up, I would certainly look at it and maybe you can buy them with me. I need a partner!"
The New York Post reported back in February that Rodriguez was a "potential suitor," adding that he is "kicking the tires" on the idea. This came after the potential sale to Steve Cohen fell through, and Mets COO Jeff Wilpon said in a statement that the team will be "moving forward to find a new transaction."
"[Rodriguez] genuinely loves the Mets," a source told The Post's Thornton McEnery. "He and J.Lo have talked about him buying a team ever since [Derek] Jeter got the Marlins."
The new sale reportedly has "no preconditions regarding control of the team," per Bloomberg. This would mean the new owner would have full control of the team once a sale is complete.
