Every Monday, we'll be taking a look at how the Yankees' top prospects (their MLB.com Yankees Top 10 rankings are in parenthesis) are faring.

Albert Abreu, RHP, Double-A Trenton (No. 3) -- ETA 2020

Abreu followed up a six-inning scoreless outing with a one-run effort, but he lasted just 4.2 innings. The right-hander continued to allow too many baserunners (1.91 WHIP in 26 innings), which is preventing him from pitching deep into games. Abreu did lower his ERA to 4.73 on the season.

Deivi Garcia, RHP, Double-A Trenton (No. 4) -- ETA 2020

In his second start with Trenton since being promoted from High-A Tampa, Garcia tossed five shutout innings. In throwing a season-high 98 pitches (62 strikes), Garcia scattered five hits and three walks, while striking out five batters.

Clarke Schmidt, RHP, High-A Tampa (No. 5) -- ETA 2020

Schmidt landed on the seven-day injured list with an undisclosed ailment. Schmidt has a 3.97 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 25 strikeouts in 22 2/3 innings this season.

Roansy Contreras, RHP, Low-A Charleston (No. 10) -- ETA 2022

Contreras, 19, improved to 3-1 after hurling 5.2 innings of three-run ball. The right-hander allowed five hits (including his first home run of the season) and walked just one. Control remains a positive for Contreras who owns a 23:6 strikeout to walk ratio in his 30 innings of work.

Luis Gil, RHP, Low-A Charleston (No. 13) -- ETA 2022

Gil took the loss on May 10, but he had his defense to blame, not his effectiveness. In five innings, Gil allowed three unearned runs, just two hits and walked two batters. Gil struck out nine hitters, the third time this season he's rung up that many hitters. Across 27 innings this season, Gil's ERA stands at 1.00, with a 1.04 WHIP and 44 strikeouts. Hitters are batting just .121 off of Gil.

Luis Medina, RHP, Low-A Charleston (No. 14) -- ETA 2022

This is beginning to sound like a broken record; Medina had no control in his latest outing. In 4.2 innings, Medina walked five hitters and allowed five hits resulting in five runs. He did accumulate a season-high eight strikeouts in the ball game. Medina's ERA rose to 8.43 after the start and this work in progress could take some time.

Josh Breaux, C, Low-A Charleston (No. 15) -- ETA 2021

Breaux played in just two games this past week, logging two hits in nine at-bats. Breaux's hitting .290 with a .327 on-base percentage and a .527 slugging percentage with six home runs and 26 RBIs in 98 plate appearances.

Garrett Whitlock, RHP, Double-A Trenton Thunders (No. 16) -- ETA 2019

Whitlock came off the injured list on May 11 to make his fifth start of the season. In 3.1 innings, Whitlock surrendered one run on one hit (a home run) and walked two. He has tossed 22.2 innings this season and maintains a 1.99 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP.

Chance Adams, RHP, Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (No. 20) -- ETA 2019

Adams, once situated near the top of these rankings, has turned in three straight solid starts for the RailRiders. In those contests, Adams, 24, has allowed just three runs on eight hits across 18.2 innings of work. During the span, Adams walked five and struck out 22 batters. As a result, Adams' ERA has dropped from 10.32 to 4.80, which could aid his chances of a call-up to New York.
