The Yankees have now lost two of their last three games, falling to the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-4, on Tuesday night.

Here are five things to know...

1. Nestor Cortes made his third start against the Rays since May 26, but he didn't have nearly the same success this time out compared to the first two starts. The Rays jumped on Cortes in the bottom of the first inning, as Isaac Paredes and Harold Ramirez went back-to-back.

2. Paredes struck again with a solo shot in the third, and with him looming in the on-deck circle in the fifth, Cortes allowed a one-out Yandy Diaz single. Aaron Boone made the decision to not have Cortes pitch to Paredes this time around, pulling him for Clarke Schmidt. Unfortunately for the Yankees, it didn't matter who was on the mound, as Paredes greeted Schmidt with his third homer of the game, giving Tampa a 5-2 lead.

Cortes went 4.1 innings, allowing four earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks. Cortes threw just 63 pitches before being pulled from the game.

3. DJ LeMahieu had a nice night at the plate for the Yankees. In the bottom of the second inning, LeMahieu came up clutch with a two-out, two-run single up the middle, tying the game at that point. He later added a double, finishing his night 2-for-3 with two RBI and a walk.

4. The Yankees had a prime opportunity to cut into the Rays' lead in the top of the eighth inning. After two walks from Brooks Raley to start the inning, Anthony Rizzo popped out to shallow left for a big first out. Righty Jason Adam then came on and forced Giancarlo Stanton to roll into a 6-4-3 double play thanks to a tremendous play by shortstop Taylor Walls. The Yankees put two runners on to start the inning but could not score either of them.

5. Aaron Judge was not in Tuesday's starting lineup, but he did get a chance as a pinch-hitter. With two outs in the ninth inning, Marwin Gonzalez got just enough of a Colin Poche pitch for a two-run homer, making it a one-run game.

Judge then came out and pinch-hit for Joey Gallo as the potential tying run, and he lifted a ball to deep left, but it died at the warning track to end the game.

Judge's arbitration hearing is reportedly scheduled for Friday, though there was some confusion. Initial reports indicated the hearing would happen on Wednesday, but Friday now seems to be the day.
