After dropping game one of Thursday's doubleheader by a score of 3-2, the Yankees were swept by the Houston Astros as they dropped game two, 7-5.

Here are the takeaways...

- Making his first start of the season, Domingo German was promptly greeted by Yordan Alvarez, who crushed a solo home run to left in the first inning. Next up, Alex Bregman followed suit, going back-to-back with a solo homer of his own. German allowed three hits and walked a batter in his first inning of work since last season.

German’s second inning was more of the same. He hit a batter and allowed three straight hits, including a two-run double by Alvarez, making it a 5-0 game. German was finished after 3.0 innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits (two homers) with two strikeouts and one walk. he threw 58 pitches, 34 for strikes.

- Gleyber Torres cut into the Astros lead in the third, as he got just enough of a fly ball to left for a two-run homer. But that was all the damage the Yankees would muster against Luis Garcia, who went 5.0 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

- JP Sears took over for German, looking to give the Yankees some innings. He got through two scoreless frames, but Chas McCormick tagged him for a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth.

Still, Sears gave the Yankees three innings of middle relief, allowing two earned runs.

- After not starting the first game (though he appeared as a pinch-hitter), All-Star Game MVP Giancarlo Stanton had a game to forget in the nightcap, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

- The Yankees made things interesting in the top of the ninth, putting a couple of runners on before a three-run blast by Aaron Judge made it a two-run game. They then brought the tying run to the plate, but Matt Carpenter bounced into a double play to end the game.
