Five takeaways from Wednesday's game...

1 ) The Yankees launched another five home runs and are now 9-2 against the Orioles this season. The Yankees have hit 11 homers in the three games of this four game set.

2 ) Gleyber Torres is out of his mind when playing Baltimore. The 22-year-old hit two more home runs, giving him 12 on the season, 10 of which have come against the Orioles. Torres, who has been quite good offensively all season, is now hitting .302 and has 26 RBIs.

3 ) Thairo Estrada, who is the Yankees' No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline coming into the season, is demonstrating why on a big league stage. Despite erratic playing time, Estrada has been quite productive at the plate. After tonight's 2-for-4 performance, including his third homer of the season, Estrada is hitting .312.

4 ) Gary Sanchez' homer made it three straight games that the Yankees' catcher has hit a long ball. Like Torres, Sanchez has been especially strong against the Orioles, hitting nine homers against them this season. Sanchez now has 15 home runs this season and 31 RBIs in just 32 games, which pretty much tells me that last season's production at the plate was the aberration.

5 ) Brett Gardner didn't hit any home runs, but he did log three doubles. Gardner's offensive production is picking up steam as the outfielder has eight hits in his last 14 at-bats through tonight's contest. Gardner also pegged a runner at home plate with a fine throw, which played a big part in the Yankees maintaining an edge over the Orioles.
