Five takeaways from Tuesday's game...

1 ) Domingo German had a stellar first two innings, and then ran into some trouble with a 30-plus pitch third inning. That frame took a lot out of him and it resulted in runs in the fifth inning when he allowed a three-run homer. Still, German won his ninth game of the season, making him the first pitcher to reach that mark this season.

2 ) Clint Frazier homered twice, his seventh and eighth homers of the season, both landing over the center field wall. Frazier, who was in a blistering hot streak before going on the injured list, had been in a deep funk since he returned (6-for-40 coming into tonight's action). If Frazier, who finished with five RBIs on the day, doesn't use this effort as a springboard for his production, he could find himself back at Triple-A when (if) Giancarlo Stanton returns.

3 ) Gary Sanchez picked up where he left off Monday night, hitting a three-run home run in the first inning. Sanchez now has eight home runs against the Orioles this season, with six of those homers coming at Camden Yards. Sanchez added a fourth RBI, bringing his season total to 30 in 31 games.

4 ) DJ LeMahieu ripped three singles tonight, marking his league leading 18th multi-hit game of the season. There was some concern at the beginning of the season that the Yankees might have a hard time giving him reps with a loaded infield. Injuries have worked that out, but at the rate LeMahieu has been hitting, he likely would have wrestled a starting job from someone anyway.

5 ) David Hale pitched the final four innings of the game for the Yankees, allowing one run on three hits to earn his first career save. Hale's performance might seem unimportant in the scope of things, but it assists the remainder of the relievers by providing a night off, which could prove to be beneficial as the Yanks are in a stretch of 17 games without a day off.

The Yankees continue their series with the Orioles on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. It will be CC Sabathia looking to stay consistent on the bump against Dan Straily.
