Seven takeaways from Sunday's game

1) Austin Romine has been mostly quiet since taking over the full-time role with Gary Sanchez on the injured list. But, he had the game-tying single in the eighth inning and the walk-off single in the 10th to give the Yanks the walk-off win, part of a three-hit day.

2) James Paxton was great in his last effort and practically duplicated it on Sunday, making it a shame he didn't come away with the win. Paxton finished with 12 strikeouts, his second straight 12-strikeout game. Paxton's scoreless effort brought his season ERA to 3.10 as he takes his position at the top of the Yankees rotation.

3) Clint Frazier hit another home run, giving him a team-tying high six on the season (Sanchez). His three RBIs place him first on the club with 17. The Yankees are in need of an impact bat, and Frazier has been providing it on a daily basis of late.

4) In the "which new player will get a hit today" column, Mike Ford recorded his first major league hit with a double. Ford is getting an opportunity for MLB some reps with Greg Bird on the injured list, and his stay might end up being longer if he can prove he's ready.

5) Tommy Kahnle shut down a threat in the seventh when Paxton got into trouble. He has become a true asset for the back end of the bullpen, as he has jumped Chad Green and Jonathan Holder, who have both struggled.

6) Speaking of Green, he's been an absolute disaster and caused the first half of the Yankees eighth inning meltdown. After being charged with three runs, Green's ERA is now at 12.27 for the season.

7) Adam Ottavino added to the bullpen's inconsistency, allowing back-to-back homers in the eighth, which turned a 5-2 lead into a 6-5 deficit. Ottavino himself has been inconsistent this season, starting out with some superb appearances and recently showing some kinks in the armor.
