J.A. Happ was lights out for the Yankees in San Francisco, as the Yankees took down the Giants 6-4 on Saturday afternoon. >> Box score

Six takeaways from Saturday's game...

1) Happ threw by far his best game of the young season, tossing seven scoreless innings. Happ scattered five hits, walked none and struck out two batters for his first win of the season. The effort reduced Happ's ERA to 4.68 on the season.

2) Gary Sanchez came to the plate with the bases loaded in the five-run fifth inning, collared with a 0-for-10 skid since coming off the injured list. Sanchez erased the hitless string with a 467-foot grand slam. Sanchez now has seven home runs on the season and 15 RBI, which is quite a feat considering he missed 11 games with the calf strain.

3) DJ LeMahieu is seeing the ball well again, generating a hit (a two-out RBI single) and drawing two walks as the leadoff man. LeMahieu, who stole his second base of the season, also made a dazzling play at second base, showing off his Gold Glove abilities. LeMahieu has easily been the Yankees best position player performer among the offseason additions, making it easy to suggest the club would be in bad shape if he was not a member of the club.

4) Luke Voit has pretty much squelched the fluke potential some labeled him with at the outset of the season. Voit has now reached base in 38 straight games dating back to last season, but had a 13-game hitting streak snuffed in today's game. Voit, courtesy of a hit-by-pitch, recorded his team-leading 23rd RBI of the season.

5) Gio Urshela is not going to be sent away from this team if he keeps contributing as he has. Including today's contest, Urshela has 12 hits in his last 31 at-bats (eight games). Today, Urshela ripped three hits (two doubles among them) as he lifted his batting average to .327 on the season.

6) After being quite valuable this season and in his first inning of work today, Luis Cessa made this a much closer game than it should have been. Cessa allowed two homers (four runs in total) and his ERA ballooned to 4.15 for the season, up from 1.46 before the ninth inning started. The poor effort forced Aroldis Chapman into the game, but the Yankees closer settled things down by recording a strikeout, good for his fifth save of the season.

What's next

The Yankees will look for the sweep on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. It will be Domingo German and Dereck Rodriguez going at it on the bump.
