Six things to know from Friday's Game 1

1. Michael King allowed a leadoff home run to Cedric Mullens to begin his afternoon, and he was very up-and-down all afternoon. After allowing a pair of base-runners in both the second and third, the Orioles got to King again in the fourth on a two-tun shot by Rio Ruiz, the second home run of the day allowed by King.

2. Gary Sanchez has had a down season, but he gave Yankees fans exactly what they've wanted to see from him in the top of the second, destroying a solo home run off of Thomas Eshelman. Sanchez's seventh home run of the season tied the game at 1-1.

3. In the top of the third inning, the Yankees quickly built a rally, loading the bases with nobody out. Brett Gardner then singled to center to bring in two runs and give the Yankees a 3-1 lead. After the Orioles brought Branden Kline out of the bullpen, Mike Tauchman walked to force in the Bombers’ fourth run of the day.

4. The Orioles tied the game in the bottom of the fifth, as Renato Nunez crushed his 10th home run of the season, a solo shot off Ben Heller.

5. Coming off of a poor outing, Zack Britton once again found himself in trouble in the bottom of the sixth. The lefty walked two and allowed a single to load the bases for the O's with just one out. But Britton was able to strike out Anthony Santander and get Jose Iglesias to ground out to end the threat.

6. In the eighth inning, the Yankees had the opportunity to take the lead with runners on first and third and just one out, but Aaron Hicks grounded into a double play to end the inning. But in the ninth, with pitcher Jonathan Holder as the runner at second after the Yankees lost their DH when they pinch-hit in the seven for Luke Voit, Miguel Andujar put the Yankees ahead with an RBI single. Clint Frazier then brought in another run with an RBI hit of his own.

The Yankees and Orioles play Game 2 of their doubleheader later tonight with Deivi Garcia on the mound for the Yankees.
